After a long time, I finally agree (slightly) with the Israeli govt. I believe that they should shift the focus from Gaza to Iran, as Hamas is Iran's proxy. However, I think that the risks of bombing nuclear sites are high. I think they should hack Iran's operations instead of straight up bombing.

I don't agree with everything the Israeli government does (but of course I do not support Hamas). However, this? I fully approve - and I wish Israel had found a way to kill Khamenei, or start some kind of regime change operation. We already know Mossad has many assets inside Iran. They would be able to gauge whether enough of the Persian people hate the occupying regime to support such an operation, because if not, it will never be successful.

So, if they do attempt this, it must be coordinated, and I know trusted teams can be ready when the time comes if the numbers are enough - the Mossad agents plant the seeds and the Iranians will hopefully be ready to do what needs to be done themselves when it's time!

I don't know the best way to do this, but I think the time is about right. I've seen so many posts from Persian people wanting freedom from the occupying Islamic Republic, whether they support Reza Pahlavi or Restart or one of the other opposition parties, they need to be united when the time comes and not be infighting, otherwise again there's no chance. I personally think Reza Pahlavi would be a great interim leader and he's already said he supports democracy and will go with what the people decide. I wish them all the best of luck, and Marg Bar Khamenei! (I hope that's right!)

Another reason the Islamic Republic occupying Iran can never be allowed to get a nuke is that we know what Islamist extremists can be like - some of them would be willing to go for mutually-assured destruction if they think they will go to paradise for their 72 virgins. Whether they decide to attack the Little Satan or the Great Satan (or both if they get two nukes ready to use), they'll surely be nuked back but all it takes is an extremist who believes every "martyr" including innocent civilians will be guaranteed paradise and he might be crazy enough to do it.

As much as I agree that Islamist extremism is an evil that needs to go, Israel shouldn’t have bombed Iran like that, especially since it’s confirmed their nuclear arsenal is real. If history and theology has taught us anything, is that Islamists do not understand, let alone respect the concept of MAD; one reckless move is all it takes for mushroom clouds to start popping up everywhere, so they need to take great care when dealing with Iran.

Striking nuclear sites is not like an atomic bomb, as Israel already destroyed nuclear sites in Iraq and Syria.
The main problem is Iran's response, they will probably strike the oil fields of Saudi and other USA allies.

If Israel &amp; Iran will fight, the regime wouldn't have enough power to fight both against another army and their own people.

So it mostly depends on how much the people of Iran will do to overthrow their current regime.

Regardless, the war itself would mostly be the 2 sides shooting rockets at each other + air strikes with assassinations to the Iranian side every now and then...

Iran would largely rely to its huge stockpile of ballistic missiles and launch a massive missile attack like what they did last year, with the aim of saturating Israel's air defences. Israel would in turn rely on its air force and bomb targets inside Iran. If we are talking about a hypothetical strike on Iran's nuclear program, the Iranian's have already threatened to not just attack Israel but also US military bases and Arab states close to the west (Gulf Arab states), so their missile barrage would likely be even bigger than last year's attacks. I'm not sure if the Arab states would respond. They appear to be fairly weak and on top of that don't want to be caught collaborating with Israel in an attack on Iran (see the Gulf war as an example). They would most likely just condemn the attack but do nothing. It would largely be between Israel and Iran directly, with the US either stepping in to back Israel or trying to resolve the conflict to prevent it from escalating (the Arab states might join this effort as well).

The most difficult part will be the proxy forces all around Israel’s border that will use everything they have to protect Iran from falling. I do think that Israel (with the help of their allies) are well equipped to defeat Iran, but it would probably mean millions of dead Arabs and fighting a land war against Hamas/Hezbollah within Israel’s territory. Not super long, potentially destabilizing for Iran, I could see Israel and the US maybe arming the Kurds and potentially the Shias in Iran as well if they really wanted to make it a war. I don’t think Iran could convince other groups to do the same. However neither Israel or Iran could actually land any real amount of troops so it would mostly be a game of ballistic catch and proxies.

Lots of missiles flying from Iran and Yemen towards Israel and airbases getting pummeled. They could realistically only keep this up for a short while, as consuming missiles can be done quickly, building them takes quite a while. 

Then it is a simple question of whether Israel is capable and willing to target the oil and gas wells and absolutely crater the Iranian economy. 

Realistically, Israeli counterattacks would be much less frequent simply because it is far more complex to coordinate long-range strike missions. Tankers would also suffer from lower readiness rates in case this war is anything remotely sustained

No, destroying nuclear reactors is not at all similar to a nuclear bomb in terms of devastation. Also, these tend to be underground installations. 

The real problem is simply that targeting Iranian nuclear program is likely to further validate to Iranian leadership that a sprint for nukes is the right move. It would be pretty much impossible for Israel to take out all nuclear sites (too many, dug far too deep for Israeli bombs) and knowledge is already far more dispersed. Iran will inevitably have nuclear infrastructure left or at the very least, lots of smart people capable of setting it up. However, at that point you have just motivated to Iranian leadership and its people to pour more resources into nuclear weapons. 

If you expect such a strike to do anything more than half the Iranian program for at best a few years, expect to be wrong. If Iran is actually motivated to develop and build nukes, no nation except the US can change that.

If Israel actually wants to systematically destroy the entire Iranian nuclear program for a significantly time period, there is no real alternative to getting the US on board with its far larger, far more suitable air force.

Probably another wave of exploding dicks.

Gloves off war with Iran would have to involve air strikes instead of just cyber attacks. And not just strategic sites, either. I don’t know if Iran could handle a non-proxy war with Israel.

It would be devastating. Iran in the worst case scenario would be pumelling Israeli cities with ballistic missiles in the first weeks of war. The casualties would be in the thousands. Israeli ballistic air defenses would be overwhelmed. Expensive interceptors just can't cope against these ballistic missiles. That is Iran's strategy when establishing detterence.

BUT these ballistic missiles would be very much limited. In a month or two, Iran would need to once again stockpile and produce these use long range ballistic missiles. But the process would be long and difficult, especially when Israel counter attacks and the means to produce them would be hampered. They would end up launching these missiles in fewer numbers and on occasional basis.

But drones attacks would be consistent given how less sophisticated they are to make. But even their production can be hampered by strikes as well as the fact they are easy to intercept.

Israeli strikes will be continous, accurate, and deadly. These are pros when having an effective air force when delivering payloads. 

Israel will strike vital targets such as Iranian oil fields, ports, ships, factories, military bases, and other important targets. What will make these attack different is that Israel will be once again attacking an actual country with actual targets. 

After months have passed this will be a very one sided conflict. Iran just doesn't have the consistent means to attack Israel. But Israel would continously sink their ships, bomb their oil, and decimate military targets.

If Israel only conducts precise strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities and some missile factories, then Iran's response can refer to the two reactions in October 2024, as long as Israel's anti missile system operates normally.

But If Israel is directly aiming to overthrow the Islamic regime, then it needs to be prepared and careful of Iran inciting Palestinians to launch suicide terrorist attacks, as well as the backstabbing of disloyal Israeli Arabs, and even possible attacks by international Islamic terrorists sponsored by countries such as Qatar. There may also be some left-wing cowards in Israel joining in to attack you, all of which need to be careful.

Iran invested in ballistic missiles which are expensive and rather ineffective in doing anything. Israel is also one of the few countries that can shoot down ballistic missiles reliably due to our IAI Arrow anti-missile system, we are the first country on Earth to shoot one down outside of the atmosphere. We have many of own ballistic missiles notably the Jericho ICBM which can do a really huge amount of damage with certain kinds of warheads.

But unlike Iran, Israel has next generation fighters and precision munitions. Basically we can project explosive force more accurately and intensely. Our weapons systems are far more advanced compared to anything Iran has. So I think overall, we'd obviously do way more damage to them then they can to us.

I think if you target the regime (IRGC and high ranking clerics), and really really really minimise civilian casualties, the Iranian people will win the war for you.

We are already at war, however, a full scale war would obviously be significantly more detrimental to both nations. We don't know what kind of equipment and military wizardry Iran may or may not possess, but as it stands officially, I don't doubt Iran could deal significant albeit imprecise damage to Israeli infrastructure, but as for long range operations extending over many weeks or months, Israel undeniably has the upper hand, especially when it comes to air defense and attack capabilities which in a scenario like this would be crucial. 

As for your questions, assuming this isn't just a fictional one v one, other nations would definitely be dragged into this war, however I'm sure that ones closer to Iran would choose to remain neutral as even though friendly nations such as the KSA or the UAE have excellent defense capabilities, neither would want to see their wealthy skyscraper cities potentially hit by the barrage of Iranian ballistic missiles. The US, in my opinion, would most definitely join against Iran, as the Iranians by themselves really have no way of affecting the US, other than attacking US bases, which in turn would probably cause a devastating retaliation, especially under Trump.
